First Avenue Streetscape Upgrade – Community Update

The Sunshine Coast Council are excited to share an update on the First Avenue Upgrade in Maroochydore, a transformative project that will create a vibrant, shady and inclusive streetscape from Aerodrome Road to The Esplanade and Duporth Avenue bridge.

This upgrade will deliver improved pedestrian and cyclist access, enhanced landscaping and a welcoming environment for businesses, residents and visitors.

With underground services investigations now complete and a major funding grant announced earlier this year, construction will start in early 2026 and continue through 2027, weather and site conditions permitting.

The public tender process for the construction contract has now concluded and the successful contractor will be announced soon.
