Member Spotlight – Sean Lues
Managing Director, African Signature Journeys
Where do you live?
Buderim.
Tell us about your family?
I have a family I’m very close to and they have been a big part of my journey: my wife Kim and two teenagers.
Favourite location on the Sunshine Coast?
Brooloo Park for camping with the family. Closer at hand, I love walking, birding and photography in Mooloolah River National Park.
Which local person inspires you?
Luke Hawley, from Buy Local Sunshine Coast. I admire his energy, professionalism and the way he connects people and ideas within the Coast business community.
Favourite local business?
There are many, but I really value local businesses that combine genuine service with a strong sense of community.
Best thing about living on the Coast?
The lifestyle and the people. It is a beautiful part of the world.
How long have you been a Chamber member?
Coming up for about three years.
What’s the best thing about being a Chamber member?
The connections. It is a diverse and very active, progressive group of people.
Favourite ChamberCast with the President and Pep?
Episode 12 with Roz White or Episode 13 with Ashley Robinson – two more people I respect here on the Coast.
Favourite Chamber event?
The monthly morning Coffee + Connect are always valuable. I enjoy the chance to meet other members and hear their stories.
How can the Sunshine Coast be improved?
As someone who’s whole family is actively involved in scouts, I strongly believe the Coast would benefit from more opportunities for older children and teenagers. Keeping young people engaged, challenged and connected through positive programs helps build confidence, community and purpose and can prevent many of the problems that arise from boredom and lack of direction.
What excites you about the future of the region?
The continued growth of the Coast as a vibrant place to live, work and do business, while still retaining its natural beauty and strong community feel.
Favourite holiday destination?
Locally, Brooloo. More broadly, Africa will always have a special place in my heart. Namibia will probably be the next major destination.
