Maroochy Member Mail – June 2023

June traditionally means the start of winter, tax time and another Queensland victory in the State of Origin series. All three have come to fruition again this year and I hope you’ve enjoyed the latter as much as I did.

With the first six months of the year done and dusted we look forward to what the remainder of the year has to offer. From our Chamber’s perspective, we could not be happier with how the year has started, particularly with our three major events which included former Wallabies Captain John Eales, AFL Premiership star Tom Boyd and more recently big wave surfer Mark Visser. Our chamber has steered clear of ‘big name’ events in the past but we could not be happier with the quality of each of these speakers along with the large number of people who came along to these events.

As our membership grows, we understand the need to continue to invest in the tools and resources to ensure you receive value from your membership. Our greatest asset is our wonderful Membership Coordinator, Sharon Dryden who has been integral in proactively communicating with our members and keeping our Executive Committee updated about our member’s needs.

Please feel free to reach out to Sharon anytime you need your business profile updated on the Members Register. She loves receiving feedback good or not so good as we value your opinion for the growth of our Chamber.  Her contact details are membership@maroochy.org or of 0408 389 365.

We would like to acknowledge our amazing Membership Committee, Charmaine Bastin, Richard Turnbull, and Anita Piers, for their dedication to strategically support our members. They diligently serve as a brains trust for connecting members with other professionals in the community, creating relevant opportunities for networking, and building relationships that lead to new ventures. We are so grateful for their hard work and commitment to our members.

Lastly, If you know a business that could benefit from joining the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce, please pass on details to Sharon and she will contact them directly. If this business becomes a member, you will receive another month free on your membership as a thank you for your referral. There is no limit to the number of businesses you can refer, and we will send you a personalised email letting you know that we have contacted them.

Jack Swanepoel, All Computer Services Pty Ltd

“I look forward to attending the Maroochydore Chamber Of Commerce events, where I meet and talk with other keen business people like myself. I love the opportunity to get a sense of how business is treating other business people on the coast, and at every meeting I meet four or five new business people on the coast.

The sponsors and speakers at the events are inspirational, and I never leave the events without feeling like I’ve learned new things or met new people with great opportunities that come with those meetings.

Kudos to the Chamber Committee for the huge effort they put into coordinating these events, they are always a pleasure to attend. Especially Sharon the Membership Coordinator and the whole Chamber team , they make the whole operation what it is.”

“Since becoming a member of the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce, Sharon Dryden has warmly welcomed us into the business community of the Sunshine Coast.  She has been proactive in ensuring we embrace opportunities to connect with other entrepreneurs and business people, which has been a lovely introduction for us since moving to the sunny coast.

Sharon has a beautiful way of connecting people, and we’ve really appreciated her responsiveness to helping us to engage with the local community.  Sharon is a refreshing example of people supporting people.”

ChamberCast With the President & Pep

Over the past few months we’ve had two outstanding Chambercast episodes, it was an absolute pleasure to have Bonza CEO Tim Jordan join us for a chat in April and more recently property experts Mal Cayley and Nicola McDougall joined us to discuss the current housing crisis. Our Chambercast would not be possible without the support of our sponsor Southern Cross Austereo and their incredible Listnr studio in Maroochydore.
