Where do you live?
Palmview.
Can you tell us about your family?
My wife Anita and we have two young daughters.
Favourite location on the Sunshine Coast?
Cotton Tree, for sure. Most weekends start with a run along the beachfront and a swim at the pool, followed by coffee at Wynd and a fresh loaf of sourdough from Rick’s on Sixth.
Which local person inspires you?
Kerry Neill, from TribalLink. He’s one of the Sunshine Coast’s great storytellers and has an incredible ability to make First Nation’s culture meaningful. Off camera, he’s thoughtful and just loves the Coast community. His recognition at this year’s Biosphere Awards was well deserved.
Favourite local business?
White house International. Min Swan and her team are the glue that holds the Coast business community together.
Best thing about living on the Coast?
I’ve lived and worked in different parts of the world, but nowhere matches the lifestyle, sense of community and natural beauty we have here.
How long have you been a Chamber member?
Since 2020.
What’s the best thing about being a Chamber member?
I feel more connected now than I ever did as a TV journalist. The Chamber has introduced me to incredible business and community leaders who are always willing to share ideas and help.

Favourite Chamber event?
The Christmas parties. Everyone is relaxed and you can catch up with people you haven’t seen all year.
How can the Sunshine Coast be improved?
The Coast is growing up fast. Our economy is diversifying, we’re becoming more ambitious and the Olympics will only accelerate that. But success shouldn’t come at the expense of our identity. We need to define what makes this place unique, because that’s what people will remember long after the Olympics are over.
What excites you about the future of the region?
The Coast is at a turning point. Right now, we’re in the box seat to shape the kind of region we want to become.
Favourite holiday destination?
Agnes Water. It’s what I imagine the Coast was 50 years ago: a sleepy beach getaway. It’s humble, relaxed and the coastline is just stunning.
